While I’ve never partied in San Antonio, it’s hard to imagine it being more lively than Gaslamp or Pacific Beach in San Diego. Better weather, later last call and just more selection imho.

I don't really like the nightlife in either of these cities, but I'd definitely go with San Diego.

Why did you choose San Diego?

Mainly because the other option is San Antonio. The Pearl area and Southtown have like five bars each, and I'll pass on anything else in the city.

Neither of these cities are helped by the huge military populations. I'm sorry but that's an awful ingredient for nightlife unless nightlife means strip clubs to you.

With San Diego, at least there are some nice outdoor bars to enjoy the beautiful climate, along with a pretty good brewery scene. Gaslamp sucks, but is still better than the riverwalk I think.

There are bars and pubs all over downtown/Riverwalk both street level and Riverwalk level. The same for Southtown and the Pearl and the general area far more than just 5.

Neither is that super, but San Diego is better overall for nightlife.
