We going compare most northern and southern sections of large cities.

NYC most southern section is Tottenville, Staten Island and northern part Wakefield, The Bronx it roughly 45 miles apart still in same city hasn't left NYC yet.

Los Angeles most northern section is Granada Hills North and southern section is coastal San Pedro roughly 48 miles apart still same city.

Chicago most northern section is Rogers Park and southern section Hegewisch is 31 miles still same city.

Tottenville is one nicest NYC areas and Wakefield The Bronx one of most urban areas in the city for etc. How would compare Hegewisch to Tottenville ?

Straight-line, it's about 34 miles from Tottenville, SI to Wakefield, BX.

Not sure I'd say Tottenville is one of the nicest parts of NYC (it's fine, for sure, but it's maybe top 5 on SI and farther down a citywide list). And Wakefield is certainly not one of the most urban parts of NYC either.

Coastal San Pedro to Sylmar in Los Angeles is a 50 mile trip using the most direct road route.

Seattle

All 4 corners here are pretty nice, general rule of thumb is the farther east or west you get (closer to Lake Washington or Puget Sound), the nicer it is

NW: Broadview

NE: Briercrest (not to be confused with the adjoining Briarcrest neighborhood of Shoreline)

SW: Fauntleroy
https://goo.gl/maps/pAiF3biuQaLoXm9G7

SE: Lakeridge

NW <--> SE: 17.1 mi
NE <--> SW: 16.7 mi
Yeah, we're not a huge city

Something about big city limits gets me all hot and bothered for some reason(fanning myself)

lol

No seriously. Oakland's southern extreme is also one of the most high crime areas in the state.

Oakland's northern extreme in the hills is the polar opposite, posh and tony.

It takes about a 20 minutes in no traffic to drive from the Tunnel Rd onramp on the 24 freeway in the north, to get to 98th Av along the 880 freeway in the south. In traffic, it can take an hour.

Jersey City's extreme points are 6.1 miles apart. Both are industrial areas (Secaucus border at the north point, Greenville Yard/Port Jersey at the south point)

You are most amazed by Los Angeles County driving through city of LA and smaller cities and towns it roughly 100 miles from north to south. Los Angeles County is bigger than state of Rhode Island.
