You guys slay me.
And i still can't get over the 6 souls lost on the Island that think
Boston will ever build 1000 feet, or anything taller than ~415'
in the coming decades, (after SST tops off in 2~3 yrs).
NYC is currently building all kinds of supertalls - residential and office towers.
The era of supertalls is definitely not over, as they become cheaper to build and technically possible due to advancements in engineering and materials.

“Ever†is a strong word. I do think it’s possible at the Hynes site someday, just unlikely especially within 20 years.

Yeah, it's nuts how tall NYC is going now, and seems to be racing with the global cities these days for height and overall supertall count.
There are currently 2 skyscrapers under construction over 1,000 feet in NYC, including the first supertall in Brooklyn going up.
In addition, there are another 10-12 approved/proposed over 1,000 feet here.
That would bring NYC to about 30 skyscrapers over 1,000 feet if they all get built.
NYC ain't slowing down much on the supertall front.
Exciting to see but makes you wonder how the demand can keep up.

98 Red River in downtown Austin, is breaking ground any time, at 73 stories and 1,022ft. Permits have been filed and completed, construction trailer is on site, and dirt has been turned. ROW closures have been approved and go into effect on the 28th of this month.
The tallest parcel in Boston is in Back Bay.
Back Bay will NEVER approve a 1,000' tower.
The nimby's rejected a 627' tower at a 990' FAA site, and reduced it to 544'
before the developer walked into the sunset.
The tallest realistic parcel for a tall skyscraper left in the City is in the West End.
The FAA height limit is about 860~870'.
Boston prolly won't build another skyscraper >700' for a generation or two,
or until all the nimby's are dead---and that will likely never happen.

That building I read will be the tallest building in TX when built.
