Obviously I don't want to speak too soon, but I wonder if the South Street incident resulted in a temporary mentality change?

70 people have been shot since then.

Good news - subtract the 15 victims from the incident, we're sitting at 101 victims midway through June which is only 1 more than last year.

Doesn't look like it helped the crime to go down, but it didn't make it worse either which is great.

The city is moving in the right direction in every category post-pandemic except crime (and poverty). I'm very optimistic on its future.

The area where the South St. shooting happened is generally pretty safe, right?

The surrounding neighborhood is generally safe, but that stretch of South Street has always been rowdy, but a shooting is still rare.

Yes, cpomp summed it up perfectly. It can sometimes get a little hectic hence the police presence. I’m looking out for aggressive drunk people, flash mobs, or teens fighting while down there, not a shooting.

True. It’s pretty interesting and scary at the same time

But I learned the gangs breaking into smaller gangs is a big reason

It’s pretty much the same situation in Philadelphia.
