The thread title says “Major universities”. I kind of doubt that. I think it’s counting Community Colleges and 3rd tier state schools. When you count those, I’d fully expect enrollment proportional to the metro population. If you split out the top-100 universities, I doubt you get that kind of proportional representation.

Basically, as it also counts online college enrollment, as mentioned earlier in the thread.
