Which state would you prefer to live and why? Which is better as far as:

- Cities (Hawaii just has HNL so TX might win this one)
- Transportation (TX might win this one as well as HI only has a few H freeways and no rail systems, yet anyways)
- Cost of Living (TX would be the obvious winner)
- Safety (HI would be the obvious winner)
- People/culture (the Aloha Spirit vs. the Holy Spirit)
- Food
- Weather
- Scenery (HI would be the obvious winner)
- Quality of life
- Anything you'd like to add
- Where would you rather live overall?

Id rather live in Texas. No contest.
You don’t move to Texas for beauty and scenery. You move there for opportunity. Lower cost of living, more population centers, plenty of jobs, and obviously better transportation infrastructure. Hawaii is a small series of little islands. Texas is a huge state with many highways, airports, etc. More industries, more culture (beach towns, college towns, entertainment districts is places like Austin and Dallas), more ethnically diverse (which makes a wider variety of people feel like they belong), and most important-it’s on the mainland. You don’t need to get onto a plane for decent shopping or entertainment, nor is it remote. Anything you need other than beauty is in Texas and accessible by land.

There is no advantage to Texas that comes close to overcoming the disadvantages. I have visited both and will visit Hawaii again, Texas once was enough. I'm not a fan of big cites, and prefer nice narrow, winding roads as found in Hawaii. Cost of living is bad in Hawaii but still not enough to prevent living there over Texas. The most important advantages to Hawaii are safety, scenery, climate, plantlife, and people/culture.

Texas, Hawaii is pricey
- Safety (HI would be the obvious winner)
Hawaii, most likely

Hawaii crushes Texas
- Quality of life
Texas offers more variety, cheaper for families. Hawaii if you have some extra $$
- Anything you'd like to add
Hawaii is stunning geographically, but expensive.
- Where would you rather live overall?
Hawaii, personally. Texas does not appeal to me other than Ft Worth and Austin areas

Apples and oranges comparison. Hawaii is paradise, while Texas is booming economically and growth-wise, and cheaper.

If Hawaii was an option, I would never "prefer" to live in Texas.

At this stage in my life, Hawaii. If I were in my early 20s and just starting out in life, Texas.

This comparison is not even apples and oranges; it's more like apples and hot dogs.

That’s the case comparing Hawaii to any other state, isn’t it?
