I chose L.A. because I live there not because iam being bias, but I just find it that more people talk about L.A. more because its media positon in the world.

Better in which ways? The two cities do have many factors in common (large size; diverse populations; some dense urban neighborhoods, but also lots of suburban sprawl; liberal leaning populations; horrible traffic), but different things about each city will appeal to different people.

LA has milder weather, more sunshine, and some really nice beaches. The night life is considered to be some of the best in the country, and it's one of the only places in the US with access to real Mexican food. The vibe around town is very mellow and relaxed..not hectic or stressful like in other cities. Plus, people move to CA from all over the country, so it's never hard to find someone to relate to. Everyone I know who has lived there has absolutely loved it, which is really saying something.

But LA is also significantly more expensive. Living there comfortably can be quite the challenge if you don't have a high enough income.

Now, onto Chicago. Although both cities have lots of sprawl, Chicago's urban core is a bit larger. It also feels more fast-paced and bustling. And although Chicago is an expensive place to live, it's still cheaper than LA. Many good restaurants too.

But there are some downsides. The weather can be extreme (fiercly cold winters and hot, humid summers), and seasonal depression is a very real thing for many residents. Weather is probably the number one reason why people move away (or at least it was when I lived there). Also, if you're not from the midwest, you may find it harder to fit in (something like 92% of residents were born in the state, and most of the rest are midwesterners)...it's not very diverse in that sense.

How can you say which city you think is better without being biased?

I love Chicago.

But LA for me, I went to school there, Ive lived there, I have lots of family there, I know the area very well, its like a second home and I would have no problem whatsoever moving there again if I had to . Yes, Im being biased but its the truth.

Exactly. The closest thing you can do is give a list of pros and cons (like I did), but it's impossible to actually give an opinion without bias.

I can't see how we aren't supposed to be biased unless we weren't from around either or the country
