Tampa seems like the obvious choice… Why are you guys saying Charlotte? I don’t see them as similar.

Small foot print of a downtown. Flat as all hell. Quick transition to awful urban sprawl. Fast growing. Similar size.

I agree on both counts but would call it awful SUBURBAN sprawl, there's nothing urban about it.

Charlotte’s downtown is still much bigger than Orlando. Maybe Raleigh’s cityscape is more comparable?

Aside from that, it’s climate is much more temperate and it’s economy is centered more around banking versus tourism.

I see Orlando is kind of a mesh between St. Pete and Tampa with a slightly different demographic. It’s got the walkability and trendy cafes/restaurants of St. Pete, but geographically it’s very similar to Tampa. Tampa is barely a coastal city whereas St. Pete it’s pretty obviously coastal. Outside of the urban cores, Winter Park and Hyde Park are pretty similar. Dr. Phillips and Westchase + Westshore are fairly similar.

Given the tourism aspect I see Vegas as similar too, but Orlando doesn’t have the glitz or desert so it’s hard to say they’re really that similar.

They aren't similar at all...except metro population. Totally different climate, economy, topography, cityscape, and Center City Charlotte is much bigger and denser...
