Although Buffalo CitiStat (official UCR data) hasn't been updated since February, only 2 homicides have been reported in the local news since that time. If this number holds, it will be the fewest January-April homicides since 2015, when 6 were reported in that timeframe.
The city just posted updated data on CitStat Buffalo as of May 1st:

Buffalo - 8 down 56% from 2022 which had 18 incidents

Per the Mayor's State of the City address yesterday, violent crime is down 11% from last year, and shootings are down 28%.

Minneapolis to me is worse then it seems. The last 3 years in a row have had over 80 homicides. But even with the homicides down there are 400 to 500 people shot in Minneapolis every year. And there is a lot of robberies and other violence. I hope things are changing. I hope the murders stay down. The city is also experiencing a rise in car theft more than double last year and more then 4 times as many as this date in 2019. So far 3,216 cars have been stolen this year in the city.

I was just back last month and there was nothing indicating to me that the cities aren't safe.

I'm guessing the car thefts are Kia's. That's not a Minneapolis thing, it's nationwide.

Murder rates overall are clearly getting better this year. Let’s hope the trend continues.

I guess. do you feel safe on the greenline by yourself at night or taking a stroll down Broadway and Lyndale by yourself at night. I mean can't you really just say any city is safe? Is any city really that dangerous in the United States. I guess it's all about perspective. I mean I don't really personally feel unsafe anywhere in any city in this country. There are cities in other countries that make any city in our own country look like Disneyland. I'm also a convicted felon who has spent a lot of time around people who many people would be scared of. So that's my perspective I just don't get scared or feel unsafe anywhere. Maybe you feel safe hanging at the places I mentioned alone. Maybe you walk the Northside alone all the time.
