A household income of $200,000 may or may not be "high" depending on the size of the household. A household with 2 working adults and 3 children with a HHI of $200,000 is not that well off in any large metro area.
Do you have a source for this?

That's quite possible, although last I've seen before that DC had more millionaires than Atlanta, but that maybe didn't specify Blacks, and finding a good list is kind of murky.

The thing about DC is the 200k+ earners for households is so high above everywhere else that $250k+ individual numbers kind of get offset because the difference is really only a couple thousand in this data. But your point is taken on "household size". It would be great to see those $250k+ individual numbers by county also like 18Montclair broke down for $200k households.

No, no, no, y'all aren't about to do this AGAIN on this thread.

Why does every discussion about black wealth always end up turning into an Atlanta vs DC debate? It's getting VERY tiresome.

Tht's a valid explanation for why Chicago and Philly seem relatively low; however, it doesn't apply to Memphis, which has a 47% black population compared to Chicago and Philly at 20%, or why Memphis has less homegrown wealth than a mid-sized metro like Jackson.

To be fair to Memphis, its black population is about half of Philadelphia's at the metro level: https://blackdemographics.com/popula...ty-population/

Also, my point is more about how income may be impacted by the cost of living. Meaning, comparable income for each area. According to another COL calculator, $200k in Philadelphia is on par with a little under $148k in Memphis. This is why I say that cost of living has to be considered with the list.

It’s because they are the two largest metros with the some of the most significant black population and black wealth.there are only a few metros with significant black populations and significant black wealth in this country.

I don't disagree at all, but using $250k as a threshold for "thriving" is also nuanced and varied, just like MSA's which are not uniform.

What if we expanded Jackson MSA to include the same physical area as Memphis? How many Black individuals would be part of the expanded metro area, and what percentage of them would have an income considered thriving for the region? Expanding the metro to Memphis' size would either hurt or help Jacksons "thriving" rate.

I understand, but since this thread is about the top 100 metros, we need to consider all 100 or at the least the top 10. Derailing this thread into another Atlanta vs DC debate would be unfair to the other 98 metros, especially since there's another active thread for Atlanta and DC.
