That whole stretch of peninsula is unrecognizable now. Offshoot major developments are popping adjacent to the main 177-acre Baltimore Peninsula site as well, which further helps growth.

Grading is complete w/ street grids and house foundations U/C as we speak.

Its funny… Boston has Suffolk Downs, but thats only one of three other major ones that will permanently change the scale and importance of the city.

-Allston Yards/i90 Straightening and subsequent redevelopment
-Dorchester Bay City
-Fenway

Same could be said about all these cities honestly.

Agreed! I know in DC, the AFRH redevelopment is just one part of a new area in DC forming. A Midtown neighborhood in DC is forming which not only includes the AFRH redevelopment, but also Reservoir District and the Howard University campus redevelopment plans. In total, this area has massive development in the pipeline.

Reservoir District

The Next Decade of Development In and Around Howard University

The new Midtown area forming will create an unprecedented third CBD area to join the Navy Yard/SW Wharf and Downtown DC/NOMA.

Likewise for Boston: the Seaport, Nubian Square, Boston Landing, Eastie Waterfront, West Station, Union Square, Fenway, and Dot Bay City are all as or more important than Suffolk Downs.

Then why did the OP fixate on Suffolk Downs of all places?

Your guess is as good as mine but "important" is just a blanket statement. In what context are you ranking those developments importance?.

Commercial and residential square footage? Impact to surrounding communities? How else would you rank real estate developments?

Please see criteria below.

This thread was created to focus on those major redevelopment projects and the impact they will have on their surrounding neighborhoods.

Which corridors will change the most as a result of these projects? Which projects will have the biggest impact on their cities?
Seaport for instance was already surrounded by high intensity neighborhoods and development. It isn’t really changing that area the way a high intensity development in a lower density area would like Suffolk Downs (single family homes).

I get that.

All I'm saying is building a 50-60 story skyscraper in downtown Boston is going to be way less locally impactful than throwing up a sea of 10-20 story mid-rises on one or two hundred acres of unused land all things being equal.

Obviously getting into nuances of what industries, companies and or amenities said developments are bringing to the city will dictate how big of an impact it brings.

Suffolk downs already has a stop on the blue line. As a new destination on the outer portion of boston/bostons inner urban suburbs it will make the city of Boston feel larger and more expansive.
