I'm in #2 St Louis. Most single people I know do live alone. Many are home owners. Most condo owners in my building are single. They all have busy lives and don't appear to be lonely unless they want to be.
I wonder, though, whether St. Louis couldn't use some more singles bars.
I noticed that it ranked fourth loneliest for both males and females.
In Richmond (ranked 4th) 61% of the population also identifies as single.
I get it. I’m single. I live alone. So do pretty much all of my friends.
That’s a very annoying reality when the city is trying to fill back in. 10’s of thousands of housing units have been built here over the last 25 years yet the population barely changes. The city is becoming physically built out but there has only been a modest increase in foot traffic to go along with it. Frustrating.
Aside from that, I do like that the city is populated with introverted and independent people. It’s one more way that we are becoming more like our neighbors up I95.
Not surprised by Cincinnati's ranking. It is quite insular feeling and independent. It is introverted, which I learned to just accept growing up.
