My favorite is the Northern Rockies and the photos on this Picasa photo link shows why. But just for fun can any of you guess what river this is. There may be hints in the captions. A rep point goes to the first correct guesser !

Picasa Web Albums - Rick - Guess what ri...

It's best to view it a a slide show there is a button for that. If not viewed as a slide show you can cursor over each picture to read full caption.

Nope but you're getting warm. I will give another hint. It is in western Montana. When I checked the results of the poll at the top of this post it was running neck to neck, I guess I shouldn't be surprised as I've been to the Smokies and those mountains are very beautiful especially in the fall.
I'm not trying to hijack the thread but I couldn't resist !

"BTW, I don't find this barren."

I do. And bleak, desolate and lonely.

The Appalachians are a temperate rain forest in comparison.

Is the Smokey Mountain National Park considered part of the Appalachians? Because I thought they were very beautiful when I was there a few years ago. However, I'd still have to go with the Rockies.

Gotta go with the Rockies here. I LOVE the Rockies. The Appalachians are gorgeous too, but the Rockies get my vote.

I especially love scenic Wyoming. So pretty. Lots of lakes and flowers, plus HUGE mountains as a backdrop.

Neither one is my favorite mountain range in America, but between the two I'd go with the Rockies.
