My response to that is two words (kind of 3-4 if you include the state)
Lexington, NC and Smithfield, NC. NC hands down. But the South as a whole really. We'll give Texas an honorable mention.
I urge you to try Bishop's BBQ in Saltillo, MS and Abe's BBQ in Clarksdale, MS. Bishop's is the best BBQ I have ever had, and I have had most BBQ in Memphis including Topp's, Rendezvous, Neely's, Central, Corky's, etc.
I love the NorthEast. I would never live anywhere else. But................... Who ever the hell is voting for it in a best BBQ thread is either out of their mind, never eaten BBQ anywhere else or is simply one of those "my region must win everything" types.
Not to say that the NE does not have excellent food, but BBQ in other regions is on a whole different level.
Texas is in its own region all together, the South Central United States.
Oh, well in that case, consider for my vote for Texas.
