MLS should have been counted too as professional sports. LA has 2, NYC 1. Although Cosmos is distant possibility returning in Queens, Red Bulls is surging and Chivas attendance sucks - LA wins in soccer.

With the exception of the Lakers, I like all the NYC teams more.
Metro vs. metro?

But the question is not who wins in soccer or baseball or football (haha) but which city has better sports and as you know NYC simply anihilates LA in this department. Get a footbal team and we'll revisit this topic... Until then look at the results of this poll

You're totally wrong. Philadelphia fans are ridiculous. An opposing team's fan was murdered outside of the Phillies' stadium last season...all bark? Ya, ok.

I was actually talking about Eagles fans vs. Raiders fans b/c the majority (definitely not all) of the Eagles fans I've come across and seen on TV were punk frat boys who swear they're tough. I don't have much of an opinion on Phillies fans, but if murders outside baseball stadiums are a measure of toughness then Giants and Dodgers fans either got them beat or are close contenders.

Raiders fans otoh mess with anyone and don't give a crap. There have been stabbings inside their games, and last season I was just reading an article about a dude repping an opposing team in the Black Hole who got stomped by other fans and then when the OPD came and he thought he'd be helped the cop twisted his arm and talked sh*t to him. So a lot of Raider fans may be classless low lives, but they are no joke. Philly (Eagles at least) fans from my experience are only a step up from the idiot Seahawks fans.

Well to address the thread topic - NYC is a way better sports city - LA is not in the same league

On Philly fans believe as you may - I believe that Philly fans are one of the few cities that can rival NYC (Boston, Chicago, Cleveland are others)

There is nasty stuff that happnes in every city; for whatever reason Philly is the media darling for glorifying a stero-type; for the most part I just think of passion for Philadelphia fans - for what it's worth i do think Philly is tough city but that is pretty irrelevant

I agree that NYC is a better sports city, at least nowadays. When LA still had two football teams, I'd likely still agree. LA is/was full of teams I hate (Raiders, Rams, Dodgers, Angels), a team/sport I don't care too much about (Kings/hockey), and one team that I'm actually all good with and consider one of the greatest NBA franchises of all time in the Lakers. LA does, however, get points for USC and its dominance in NCAA football.

But even though I really don't care for most of the teams NYC has, they do have much to celebrate about. The Knicks suck, I hate the Giants and Yankees, and I have no opinion on the Rangers, but the Mets and Jets I have no problem with, and I think NYC has a nice, very complete package of sports teams to root for. And the Nets are all good with me too.

And I do agree with you that Philly is a tough city. I believe my perception of Eagles fans applies more the its suburbs. I have not seen a lot of rugged, Philly hood cats reppin the Eagles hard the way I've seen Oakland and LA and Stockton and wherever else have thugs representing the Raiders. But I'm sure they exist even though I haven't seen any. I'm not downing the City of Philly, nor am I downing the City of Oakland; I'm just talking about the types I have seen representing each team.
