To a Texan, sure. But, Austin has an appeal to Californians, which is a major reason so many of them have moved there. As far as terrain and climate goes, it's probably most similar of Texas cities to southern California, which is what I imagine to be its biggest draw. Plus, it has the reputation of being a very liberal city (which isn't necessarily the case) which makes it even more appealing to everybody but those from Bakersfield.
To a Texan, it is overrated. It's a bit too much of a been-there-done-that kind of city. It's easy to outgrow. We like to visit it for concerts and festivals and to make use of the outdoors there, but living there is... well... meh.
As far as my choices about the cities, I really like them all but I think I would become the most bored in Sacramento. Then again, it's also the city I have the least experience with. The only time I have ever been there I was nine. Outside of that, my only other experience with it (and I'm about to date myself here) was from the tv show Eight Is Enough.
Exactly. I thought the same thing, especially geography wise. All those houses in the hills, near lake travis reminds of something LAesque. Something that you would see in the San Fernando Valley in the afluent cities.
I like the 10th pic of the houses with the palm trees. Very Cali/Fla like. I also like the 24th pic. And I like last 2 photos, I believe the 2nd to last one is Kemah? And the last one with all those appartments in downtown gives Houston this urban feel.
Out of the cities in California and Texas the cities with the most annual visitors in order is, L.A, San Diego, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, San Francisco, Austin then Sacramento. San Franciso and San Antonio are the most unique. I'ts kinda hard to say San Antonio is boring with all the attractions, theme parks and culture it has.
San Antonio truly is an amazing city, though I had to laugh at the jail turned "Comfort Inn" especially with bars still on the windows, seems comforting.
And this sign is priceless..
