If the company you worked for gave you the decision of either moving to Portland, Oregon or Pittsburgh, PA, and the job paid a salary of $80,000 a year, which city would you choose to move to, and why?

While neither city would rank real high on my list, Portland. Pittsburg is okay, but property taxes are insane. In Portland you'd be near mountains and the ocean. Heck, for that salary I'd consider both, but probably opt for Oregon.

Very true. But the property is also really cheap.

Portland, by far. Portland is an amazing city.

I've heard Pittsburgh is an underrated city...and I have been there and liked it well enough...but, I don't know...just seems like it's missing something, don't know what.

Portland on the other hand...great location...'WEST COAST'...and so many cool things happening there.

I was born in Pittsburgh and now live in Portland. I'm voting for Portland. The climate and surroundings are top-notch.

Portland for the proximity to world class outdoor activities.

Pittsburgh for me. It's closer to more major cities and has nicer architecture, IMO.

Read: Is closer to other major cities that are better.

Portland is great all on its own, IMO. If you're more of a city person, maybe Pittsburgh would be better. If you're more into outdoors then Portland would be a better pick.
