Philly is known for their world famous cheese steaks. Atlanta is known for a fast food joint that sells two biscuits drenched in butter, then slaps a piece of fried chicken in between the biscuits, which is known as Chick-Fil-A. Philly is denser and has more walkable neighborhoods. Philly has four seasons while Atlanta has humidity, humidity and more humidity. Atlanta has nothing that can compete with the King of Prussia, even Lenox can’t compete. Philly has a successful transit system developed while Atlanta is struggling to accommodate their growth. Also, Philly has better nightlife and more history. Philly wins, the results of the poll don’t lie.
So if Philly is light years ahead of Atlanta in cuisine, retail, weather, transit, density, etc., how is it that a city that a city that had such a huge head start let a city as insignificant as Atlanta catch up with it in population and economic importance? How is it that Atlanta has been the more popular city for the past several years? Something doesn't seem to be adding up. This poll is one thing; real world numbers are quite another.

Its not ahead in retail i was just in philly and they have the same thing we have here in Atlanta GA i went to King of prussia and walnut st
And "oldness." Since when is being old, in and of itself, a virtue?
Yeah. So let's tear down all these historical buildings that showcase all the various stages of human development, ingenuity, and artistic taste. Let's abandon all fascination with that which has withstood the test of time and seen history made. I want a new Applebees!
In addition, ATL is unbearably hot, too hot to walk, too hot to go anywhere, and pretty boring overall. If you like suburbs, strip malls, and big SUVs and equally big people, Atlanta is definetely your town.
It's very irritating when people post misinformation to try and make their city seem superior.

1. It isn't "two biscuits" - it's a bun.
2. The chicken breast can be ordered either fried or grilled.
3. Chick-fil-a is consistently noted as one of the most healthy fast-food restaurants in the nation.
4. Thank God there is no cheese whiz anywhere on the menu!

1. Atlanta has 4 beautiful seasons - Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. The seasons are milder than in many other cities, and the humidity is lower in Atlanta than other cities at the same latitude because Atlanta's higher elevation (1,050' above sea level).
2. Average High/Average Low: January - 52/33; April - 73/50; July - 89/71; October - 73/53.

1. Atlanta has a successful transit system, even if some city-data people act as if it doesn't exist. It is easily on par with the system in Philadelphia.
2. I'd much rather live in a city attempting to accomodate explosive growth than one attempting to accomodate explosive losses. It makes for a much more exciting environment.
3. Nightlife and history are subjective...to many people, the nightlife in Atlanta is much better, but again, that is subjective. An older history is not always a better or richer history and doesn't necessarily make it more interesting.

Very mature response...but I have come to expect nothing less!

No it's not.
Philadelphia has SEPTA subways, buses, light rails, and trolleys, and PATCO, and regional rail. The city is much better covered than MARTA covers Atlanta.

Yes, it is. Ridership numbers are very comparable to SEPTA and PATCO...and better coverage in Philadelphia doesn't mean that Atlanta's transit system is non-existent. That was my point.

In addtion if you like wearing layers and layers layers of clothes to escape the cold because its too bearable to walk in. Also if you like living in run down apts and condo buildings with everything stuck on top of each other with dirty mass transit trains and buses then philly is your place. oh and last time i checked i saw SUVS and strip malls in DC too
