Maybe because those are all night shots? The night shot of a skyline always makes it seem larger. The picture below your response, showing the daytime skyline of Pittsburgh, clearly shows that Pittsburgh's skyline is way smaller than Minneapolis's.

Pittsburgh has better density OUTSIDE the skyline than Minneapolis. Skyline wise Minneapolis is as dense as it can be. I don't see Pittsburgh beat that. Both have a very small skyline but Minneapolis' is larger. The density within the two skylines are the same.

I definitely Prefer Pittsburgh's skyline...Day or Night. It has more "balance" and visual appeal; plus it is better defined relative to the rest of the surrounding area. I do think that Minneapolis has an impressive skyline also and some unique towers. see... http://pittsburghskyline.com/ .....for some great pics, some good lightning at night shots.

I don't know where you found this image, but someone's been playing with the IDS Center--its really not that tall!
As far as skylines, both cities are excellent. Minneapolis is bigger and a bit more spread out (from the riverfront to the Loring park area towers), but Pittsburgh has a great collection of older towers (Koppers, Gulf, Oliver, as well as the 15+/-story buildings along 4th Avenue (the old banks being converted to condos and apts), along with some interesting modern buildings.

I'd give a slight nod to Mpls
hahaha...i definitely gave it some second and third looks once I posted it.
Minneapolis' skyline is nice from a distance---but is only impressive from certain views. Coming south from 35 it is nice and going in town from 394 from St Louis park---the awe is short-lived though. Cool town though...VERY cool.
I've never been to Pittsburgh, but WOW! Very impressed---density, architecture, landscape, color.
My vote: Pittsburgh 24 Minneapolis 21
