There are more than twice the people in Florida as in NJ. With more people comes more political offices.

I think the per capita number paints a truer picture.

From the article you posted "...so perhaps a fairer way to look at it would be per capita corruption cases."

You brought up the topic in an effort to bring down NJ. Maybe you should have checked the corruption in your own state and seen that it held the corruption crown. Sorry that you do not like the results but they are what they are, Florida is number 1 in corruption.

I thought Fort Myers was the city that had an economy that was so bad, it was the first place Obama went when he was on his "lets help the economy" streak.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/...ida/index.html

"To make matters worse, the Cape Coral-Fort Myers area had the highest foreclosure rate in the nation last year, with 12 percent of housing units receiving a foreclosure-related notice. Median housing prices in the Fort Myers metropolitan area have plummeted from $322,000 in December 2005 to less than $107,000 in December 2008, the Obama administration notes"

One wheezily little mayor gets arrested, and you deny the fact that SWFL has the worst economy in the nation.

What about Nevada and Louisiana? Those two immediately came to mind.

Florida, by FAR. South Florida is extremely corrupt and has been since the 1970s. There is an extreme amount of nepotism is politics and employment in the Miami area. It has basically become a part of the culture of South Florida; it's expected. Are there other areas that experience the same issues? Sure. But, no place is as bad as South Florida.

I brought up the topic because it was in the news today. The corruption in Florida while relevant was not the point of the post.

Between 1998 and 2007 NJ had 418 convicted public officials for about 8 million residents. Florida had 824 for 18 million rersidents.

That works out to 5.225 convictions for every 100,000 people in NJ and 4.57 per 100,000 in Florida over that time span.

I agree:

South Florida politics home to plenty of corruption

Obama pushes stimulus plan in hard-hit Fort Myers - CNN.com

And this has to do with the topic how?
