Going by rents....

Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, & Houston are affordable. Miami and Seattle don't seem that bad. The rents are cheaper than where I am.

Expensive would be like New York, San Francisco, Boston, maybe D.C. Then Philadelphia, New Orleans, Miami in the middle.

This comes from looking at rent prices online and may not be accurate since utilities, salaries, etc. are not added in.

Yeah, if you live near the water. There are plenty of neighborhoods in both of these cities that are 'median' priced.

I'll just say this particular time, I had a better time driving through the desert on the way to Palm Springs than actually being there. I need to rethink the value of long-distance dating.

It seems like this would be an easy question to answer. But, I looked and got conflicting results. Kiplingers had Honolulu #1, but the NY MSA was ranked tied w/Baltimore. Forbes listed NYC first, but ranked Chicago and Houston above Boston and DC. I am skeptical of both lists.
