These numbers are from 2016. I'm just using this to make a point.

I remember Chicago averaging a rate of about 15-18 the whole 2000's until recently when it exploded. It hasn't been bad since recently. And we comparing the worst collection of neighborhoods to whole cities with their good sections included.

No, the area I carved out includes good neighborhoods too. And I made sure the black demographic was similar. Not to mention I already put DC's worst ward up against Chicago's worst police districts of the past and present and it is the same result.

Wentworth district (Chicago)
Population: 65,834
Murders: 99
Murder rate: 150 per 100k

Ward 8 (DC)
Population: 86,437
Murders: 96
Murder rate: 111 per 100k

Philadelphia Homicides in North Philadelphia/West - Philly.com

Here I found some data on Philly. North Philly (West) in 1989 had 68 murders and population says 55362 (doesn't says when, it's most likely now, but it was probably similar back then). That's a murder rate of 123, quite a lot.

Good **** man. All cities need a website like this. The only problem is it's not letting me pick a neighborhood and a year together and the population for the neighborhoods are recent numbers. It's good for present day but getting the actual murder rate from the 90s is difficult because of unkown population for neighborhoods. However, one can probably find the old population numbers from somewhere else because we already have the murder numbers which is good.

Yeah, it's an awesome site. When I catch some time these days I'll try to find rates for other cities, too.

Nope, can't find anything. Seems like most of the cities don't have all that old data.

Man, I finally found the population numbers for DC police districts in the 1990s along with their number of total homicides. Y'all better thank me for this one! It took a lot of Google research to find this lol. And I have to say I must give DC their credit. The majority of DC was a hellhole.

The police district with the highest murder rate was the 6th district at 143 homicides per 100k residents. Right behind that is the 7th district.

DC's 6th district:
Population: 65,042
Murders: 93
Rate: 143 per 100k

DC's 7th district:
Population: 95,365
Murders: 133
Rate: 139 per 100,000

Note: Murder numbers are from the year 1993

CAPTION: D.C. POLICE DISTRICTS BY THE NUMBERS POPULATION BY DISTRICT

The District of Columbia had a population of 606,900 in 1990. Below is a breakdown by police district.

1st District: 55,158

2nd District: 111,371

3rd District: 62,869

4th District: 125,104

5th District: 91,991

6th District: 65,042

7th District: 95,365

https://www.washingtonpost.com/archi...=.6be7d949fa9e

With that being said, the most dangerous police districts in Chicago are still slightly more dangerous than DC's.

Chicago's Wentworth district (1990)
Population: 65,834
Murders: 99
Rate: 150 per 100k

Chicago's Englewood district (2016)
Population: 58,277
Murders: 87
Rate: 149 per 100k

But what's unique about DC is all of their worst districts are on top of each other whereas in Chicago you can go through miles and miles of nice areas before you get to it's worst districts. DC doesn't have that, it's pretty much all bad except for 1 or 2 districts.

This thread is depressing. Hopefully Chicago and all of the cities going through high-crime rates improve.
