L.A county and the 5 boroughs damn near had the same amount of population in the 80's & 90's.

Is it fair to compare 5 combined counties to 1 city ?
Because in this situation the city is still bigger geographically than the 5 counties. And if you go LA County it's way bigger than the 5 counties combined.

No it did not. LA County never surpassed 2,000 murders. Again, those are homicide numbers directly from the coroner that include justifiable homicide, manslaughter, etc. The highest official murder count for LA County is 1,944 in 1993. New York is the only city to ever surpass 2,000 murders.

All homicides do not count as murders. That's why the highest official count for LA County 1,944. Yoi cant change the law because it fits your false narrative. New York had 2,000+ actual murders not including police shootings, manslaughter, etc. LA County never surpassed 2,000 murders.

L.A County surpassed 2,000 murders like 15 times before.

Homicides in 1992 Set Record for L.A. County : Violence: 2,589 killings in 1992 represent an 8% rise over previous year. Cultural changes and accessibility of guns cited as factors.

No matter how you want to slice it or dice it, this is what the coroner's reported , 2,589 murders took place in 1992.

Police, sheriffs and news article's get different stories from different sources but the coroner's office is most accurate.

You can't change facts

Just like the other guy said,no New york borough/county by itself ever had more homicides than L.A city.

Same thing for Cook County, Cook County never saw 2000 murders before.

Maybe the murders in New York city in the 90's was due to the Los Angeles gangs taking over

Do you not understand the difference between a homicide and a murder? How does the coroner's office accurately represent crimes? They just report how the victims were killed; gunshot, knife wound, blunt object, time of death, etc etc. Whether they were maliciously murdered, accidentally killed, or justifiably killed, is out of their hands.

I don't know why, but I've read most of this thread. As someone who's not from the US, nor has ever been there, I think I'm pretty unbiased. From what I've read on this thread and UCR site, it's pretty much D.C., New Orleans, Detroit or Richmond. If we're talking strictly 90s, than D.C. or NO. NO has the highest single year peak (1994, iirc), D.C. has the highest few years peak (early ninties) and Detroit is the most consistent (ever since 80s [maybe even before, can't find the data] to this very day it's topping all crime stats). Richmond is very underrated. It's so funny reading comments from NYC/LA/Chicago guys. Get over it, your cities weren't the toughest, they were probably just getting the most media coverage.

P.S.: EducatedBrother, why don't you look few pages back and find where that guy GermanCelticPride (or somethin like that) proved there were areas of D.C. with like 200/100k.
