Orlando is going to get blown out in this poll, but whatever...I like it here. I have been to Vegas 9 times on vacations, and I live in Orlando. That said, Las Vegas is a great place to visit...a GREAT place to visit, however I am not sure I could live there. Now, you might say the same thing about Orlando given that they are both tourist towns, however the tourism in Las Vegas is integrated with the nightlife. In Orlando they are separate, unless you include CityWalk in the nightlife. In Vegas, if you want to go out to a club, you are going to a mega-posh venue with a mile-long line that charges an arm and a leg for drinks. It's like living in Miami. That might be great for some, for me I prefer a more down-to-earth atmosphere for week to week partying.
Restaurants...Las Vegas has this by a mile and a half, obviously.
Entertainment...Depending on what you want, either the Vegas shows and gambling will appeal, or the theme parks will appeal. I'll take the theme parks.
Hotels, well...no competition, Vegas destroys Orlando, but Orlando will be home to 3 top-flight hotels in the Ritz Carlton, new Waldorf Astoria, and new Four Seasons, plus the themed Disney resorts which are very fun.
Natural beauty...I have to give this to Orlando in spades. Driving around here you look at lakes, lush green grasses, trees, and brick lined streets. Driving around Las Vegas doesn't have that character. Orlando might have massive sprawl like Vegas, but there are still areas in the core Orlando that are very charming and pretty. Maybe I need to spend more time in the burbs of Vegas, but they are probably just new America suburbs like anywhere else.
Outdoor...depends on what you like. I don't care about hiking, so give me the beach. Orlando is 45 minutes from Cocoa Beach and 1.5 hours to Clearwater...two beaches for day trips. There are also countless pristine natural springs in Central Florida for tubing, snorkeling, diving, canoeing, etc. There is no water anywhere near Vegas for swimming.
Both Orlando and Las Vegas are within driving distance to other cool cities such as Miami or Los Angeles.
now this is one poll that I actually might have to go with Orlando on, I have no intrest in Vegas or Orlando but since Orlando is closer to other cities and is greener I choose Orlando.
