Well, we have 947,000 households that earn $100,000 a year, compared to 588,000 in Philly.
Were going to regress here with philly getting short changed on the census designation. I can be in Mercer County NJ within 15 minutes from Philadlephia. Hunterdon Nj in 25 miutes but neither are counted in Phillys stats.Mercer and Hunterdon are 2 odf the wealthiest counties in the country. Reading,AC,Allentown,Dover,Vineland
all within distance and integration deemed census worthy in almost every other cmsa, not for Philly.
I guess it bears putting back here...Cant find stats for Lower Marion, PA, but I found the other two and some other high income Philly area towns.

This is actually where Philadelphia has somewhat of an advantage due to the huge amount of multi-generational wealth there. Its much older than SF and will definitely have very rich suburbs.

Vineland is part of the Philly CSA.
Also, we don't need to regress because the Bay Area has more than the entire State of PA.
Households Earning $100,000+
State of Pennsylvania 847,597
San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA CSA 947,936

Montclair what is this onboard llc. Do you have a link?
Its a paid website that is sort of like Claritas.
I did some digging. Even if you don't have an account with them, so many real estate websites use their data that you can find it for free in many places.
Now that I think about it, I bet Philly actually has more towns with average household incomes of $100,000+ than the Bay.
That's because we only have about 96 cities total. Im not too familiar with Philly but I am familiar with NY and if its anything like Philly then there are hundreds of little towns and villages.
[b][QUOTE=2e1m5a;10613113] Jeez, make one observation about SF that doesn't glorify it and everyone jumps down your throat. But apparently it's perfectly fine to say things like "Philly is ghetto as hell"..."The CITY of Philadelphia is pound for pound one of the most run down ghettos in America", etc, etc. (I don't feel like going through the whole thread) So hypocritical, you guys take your city way to seriously. And I never compared the Golden Gate bridge to any of Philly's bridges. Of course the GG is more dramatic than what we have in Philly. I just meant that the GG bridge is the most famous bridge in the country, maybe the world while at the same time New York has bridges just as beautiful while most people outside the area wouldn't even know the names of them. I don't get it. Here's a shot of the Ben Franklin Bridge in Philly though in case you've never seen it.
Funny thing is a lot of people just don't know us or come to see us when we're between the Naton's Capitol & The Nation's Largest City..
I went to see the movie shooter with some friends when it first came out & about 7 of 8 people with me had never been to Philly, most had been to either DC or NYC & a few to both & 1 had been to all 3.
While watching the movie they were surprised that we had BRIDGES!!
They were looking at the panoramic scenes that continuosly highlighted the Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, & Betsy Ross Bridges, the Market St. El & saying "I didn't know you guys had a Subway that rides over the city, that's cool"..
Or man, Philly's a pretty big city huh? It's bigger than I thought. (smile)
Also, "that looks like such & such street in ..... New York"!!
&" I saw houses & streets like those on The Wire"
"You guy's have water" ?? I said "Yes Two rivers & a few creeks that run right through the city." Also we have the US's largest city park (U mean larger than Central??) " Yes larger than Central with plenty of urban space & miles of woodland space with hiking trails, huge rocks to climb, caves, deer, & other wildlife.. All inside of city limits".....
Yep,yep, yup, & in the summer time you can frequent any of our many neighborhood square parks take a dip in any of our many of our cement ponds..... (yuk, yuk, yuk,)
Oh well, I guess that's the way it is in Maberry ya'll.

If were comparing people, it's not even close. The SF Bay Area is by far the most progressive and socially conscious region in the US if not the world.
It's the people that make it this way.
I agree they i.e. S.F. are socially more progressive. Than many U.S. cities...but the world...no way...look at the European Union and their equal marriage laws.
