lol I'd love to know what they think of my suburban town with a density of 8000 sq/mile.
they'd probably think it was New York City. Lee County (guess who that's named after) has a population of about 40 per square mile.
it is the home of the beautiful "Scape Wh*re Swamp." that is a good place to "get away from it all," and go catch some bream, shoot gators, or look for the fabled Lizard Man.
I am going to have to go with Boise because the city is at the base of the largest and most expansive mountain/alpine wilderness and forested areas in the Lower 48 and the largest concentration of desert canyonlands in North America are south of the city. Boise is also the gateway to the best whitewater on the planet and the most miles of whitewater in the Lower 48 are in Idaho. I could go on and on with the list of natural offerings in and near Boise, such as glacial alpine lakes nearby, ski resorts, mountain biking, world class fishing, hot springs.........
For us in Philly, we have really everything (New Jersey shore, skiing, mountains, etc.) within two hours.
