I think LA will surpass NY in term of worldwide relevance maybe in 20 years or less, due to the "Asian Tigers" closeness (Cina,India ecc..) which are becoming the most important economics.

As far as trade goes yes, but I don't think economically it can output New York City even then.

aren't there more indians in ny?
are there more chinese ppl in ny than la? just curious...

i know sf has more chinese ppl...

More Indians and Chinese in NY, but more of other Asian ethnicities in L.A. - more Japanese, Thai, Filipino, etc. It's close, but L.A. has more Asian ethnicities.

I believe they won't.
What people don't realize is as L.A grows NYC grows as well.

It's not like we're not constantly building or tons of people are moving out.

Hollywood is more omnipresent in the rest of the world than NYC is.
