U guys are crazy. The beef between San Francisco and Los Angeles is so big that over the years it has turned into the Nor Cal-So Cal rivalry. And the rivalry is only getting stronger and might even threatened to divied the state in two if this continues any longer.
Also there is a street gang rivalry between the Nortenos of Northern Californians VS Surenos of Southern Californias. Nortenos means Northerner in spanish and Surenos means Southerner as in their respective parts of California. This 50 year war has killed more American citizens then Iraq and Afgahnistan put together(yes i know it is a hispanic gang thing but they are still american citizens. The immigranets from latin america started the border brothers gang and only rareley get recruited into the Nortenos or Surenos.)
Just the other day in Redwood City(a suburb of SF) a 21 year old man was shot to death simply for wearing a dodgers jacket by 3 men wearing SF 49er gear.
The Nor Cal-So Cal rivalry runs deep in hispanic communites across California. And dont forget that there are more hispanic people in California then white people.
Also this rilvary goes back to the Mexican days of California and continued during the civil war by dividing the counties of california into north and south down the middle. So cal was planning on breaking off but Nor Cal didnt allow it.
Trust me, Born and raised in SF. People are dying over this rilvary everyday in the streets, especilly in the hoods and barrios of California. U think im lying, do your research.
Not to mention the economic rivalry between SF and LA as in who is the premeir West Coast city.

I would take Northern Cal anyday of the week, I love the people there. They are not that snobby and they tend to be very bright.

People from So Cal are really caught up in stereotypes and view you based on race/ethnicity while people in Nor Cal are not like that at all. I have had great experiences with them, god forbid I EVER go back to So Cal.

Seriously, SoCal should not be supporting that many people. It's almost a desert, yet they are taking water from another part of the state to support somewhere which is unsustainable.

Well, although I agree with your premise, they are still Californians and we are in this together-the nature of being a state means that we help each other out I suppose and that includes the allocation of natural resources.

Anyway, both halves of the state are among the most economically productive regions in the US.

One thing I find extremely impressive about California as a whole is that even without the gigantic LA area, the rest of the state has a combined $1.025 Trillion GDP. Even without LA and the Bay Area, the rest of the state has a combined $483 Billion GDP.

I say to my fellow Californians, stop entertaining East Coasters (mainly NYers) with this stupid rivalry. What makes this state so great is how dynamic BOTH regions are. As a Bay Area native I will say this with the utmost sincerity......I LOVE SOCAL...This means you too LA, even though at times you really frustrate me....lol I have defended you just as I have the Bay. Both regions have captured the imaginations of people around the world and that won't change no matter how much one city puts down the other.

I was about to say that the victim probably was a Sureno. I'm from RWC... a lot more goes down there than what the news reports because most of the crime happens in an unincorporated part of town (North Fair Oaks). Murders that happen there aren't including in the Redwood City tally. Still, I AM somewhat surprised where this happened... the Vera Block Nortenos generally don't shoot people like that. I'm assuming it was them because Madison's a street over.
