I have always thought that people who are happy with themselves have no reason to bash. OK this thread is about "hating" or disliking a place for whatever reason and that is something different (and valid), and there is usually a reason - but the bashers come out anyway. To be kind, these are "limited-knowledge" types. Can we separate them out?

D.L. You mentioned "followers" and you're right - people like to be identified with a "winner" even though they had no part in the winning. They lemmingly follow the pack for or against, and therby "fit in" while getting positive feedback. The basher does the opposite and "proves himself" by bullying. It's all over this forum.
Witness those who buy and wear T-shirts with logos of champion sports teams (after the season is over of course). It's like "hey look, I was part of this. My adopted team".
