I never read much about Vancouver on here, and I don't understand why...

This city is a lil over 2 million people, the same as my hometown of Kansas City, yet look at its skyline:

How come it's never brought up??? I'd think this beats out many US cities.... I'm not sure how much historic architecture they have which is what a lot of people love, but it honestly almost looks like a city out of China or Japan IMO

Well I don't think your really suppoused to compare cities outside of the US to US cities, according to the city vs city rules. So thats probably why.

I do love Vancouver, though. We were there a few years ago - it's beautiful!

Im just going by what I've seen recently on city vs city. A LA vs Sydney thread was closed, as well as my London or NYC thread. I don't disagree with that as it does clearly state in the rules.

Yeah it will probably happen to this one too. City vs City should be made it's own forum and not under General US.

There is Vancouver, Washington. I don't know how to do pictures, but here.

Category:Vancouver, Washington - Wikimedia Commons

Otherwise I think maybe there should be like a world-version of city v city.

Hmm I wonder if you did "Vancouver vs Vancouver" would that be okay? That brings up many possibilities like "Jacksonville, North Carolina vs Jacksonville, Florida" or "Charleston, West Virginia vs Charleston, South Carolina" or "Athens, Georgia vs Athens, Greece."

Vancouver is second only to San Francisco on the West coast, and even that's debatable. i'd place it above Seattle, Portland and others. Population is misleading- SF has a much "lower" population than suburban mega malls like Kansas City, but its density is very high and it's surrounding populace dwarfs places like Kansas City. Vancouver is similar.

Just to clarify the metro is just over 2 million not the actual city population. That's just over 600,000. So neither the metro or the city population is massive but I do agree, Vancouver has a skyline that blows many well known US cities out of the water and it's really not appreciated enough. Heres a fact that I bet not a lot of you know. Vancouver's West End is second only to Manhattan in terms of population density in all of North America. If it was a US city it would easily have a first tier skyline in all of the lists i'v seen. Pictures just don't do the Vancouver skyline justice. You just can't capture its sheer size in a picture.

SF proper is bigger than KC proper in population...by quite a bit.
