I will agree with you as far as Juarez and Caracas. Can't really speak for Mogadishu. However, there are numerous cities in Mexico that have astronomical murder rates besides Juarez.

Tijuana is just one of the cities I have kept tally on for the year. They are around 350 or so for the year with a population slightly lower than Juarez.

The city of Culiacan, which is the capital of the state of Sinaloa, is actually the true drug capitol of Mexico. The city has a population of roughly 750,000, but they are at around 400-500 murders for the year so far. Its really hard to find current stats, but that city has always been one of the most violent in the whole world.

Your not going to be able to get "real numbers" til after the reporting year is over, since cases regularly get re-categorized, i.e. murder might be changed to manslaughter, unexplained death might be changed to murder etc.

Latest figures that I found. 35 slain this past weekend in Juarez. As of 5/18, 950 murders for the year.

I mentioned the Mexican state of Sinaloa in my previous post. As of 5/17, there have been 905 murders for the year with a population of 2.3 million. I would venture to say roughly half of that would be in the city of Culiacan.

... 35 in one weekend. That's how much Oakland has had in 5 months. smh... Then again, Oakland's about 1/3 the size of Ciudad Juarez but still...

DC as of 5/20:

2010: 34
2009: 46

I still think the only reason that murders are down is because of the snow blizzards.

Cleveland's at about 30-35 I believe, which is way down from last year.

The whole metro? I'm not sure I would guess around 55.
