Bureau of Justice Statistics Crime and Justice Data Online

The numbers are different because the The City Of New York dropped the number down, The FBI still recognizes the high number.

The numbers at the federal and local jurisdiction levels are usually different because the local jurisdiction will go back after the FBI report and drop or reclassify cases to make the numbers they release look better.

It's quite skewed across the city:

White:
9 victims out of 920,000 people
2.6% of victims; 0.9/100,000

Hispanic:
63 victims out of 850,000 people
18.4% of victims; 7.0/100,000

Black:
271 victims out of 1,100,000
79.0% of victims; 24.0/100,000

This is why I hate Chicago and black gangs!

A large majority of black people on the West Coast are originally from Texas and Louisiana.

You live in Houston. Don't concern yourself with Chicago.

Atlanta's trends are unusual as it's highest number was in 1973 while most if not all other major cities had their highest numbers in the early to mid 90's.

Yeah, the only other major cities that I know of that had their peak in the seventies were
Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, St. Louis, & San Antonio, but all of these, except San Antonio have lost population since the seventies.
