Is there any reason that NYC is going up 14% this year? I'm assuming it's just random.

I remember Chicago went up by 13% in 2008 and people were pitching a fit. Then the next year it went right back down to 2007 levels.

2004: 450
2005: 450
2006: 450
2007: 450
2008: 510
2009: 450
2010: 450 (on pace)

Those are approximate (obviously), but it's weird when there are random jumps here and there. Like when Chicago all the sudden went from always being around 600+ down to 450 in 2004 - then stayed there.

i really don't know why NYC is has had a up stick in crime compared to 2009.But my crime and punishment professor claims its because of the success of the nypd over the years.
