This is exactly why the current general American view of Mexico is seriously flawed... up until 2 years ago it was no more dangerous than the US. Hell, in 07 Ciudad Juarez was less dangerous than my city (Oakland) was in 07... Now its as dangerous as EPA was back in 1992. The sad part is how violent America is and there is no drug war of comparable scale... hopefully there never will be.

The sad part is that New Orleans is only slightly less murderous. This country's seriously ****ed if it manages to be as murderous as a country that's basically in the middle of a war

EPA had a crime rate that huge? also that Mexican city doesn't even have l.a,s population and ranks all those murders.

Oakland, CA
Pop 430,000
Homicides Year to Date(2010): 74
Homicides Year to Date(2009): 95
Homicides Year to Date(2008): 100+
Homicides Year to Date(2007): 100+
Homicides Year to Date(2006): 120+

Still much higher than it should be, but we are seeing a definite downward trend which is great, but Im on eggshells over the past few weeks because summer had an amazingly low number of homicides(for Oakland), but the past month has seen an uptick. If we could end out the year under 80 that would be so awesome, but I won't hold my breath as the hoodlums seem to be restless these days.

Sometimes I wish we could lock all the murderers in a room and let them kill each other already.

imo thats the problem... we already do that in a way. There's a reason why DEO's called the "Killing Fields"... its a criminal's playground. Murder is like a swing... what goes around comes around.

yessir. EPA had 42 murders with a population of under 25000... 42 x 4 = 168/100,000. Ciudad Juarez has had 2521 murders so far this year and the population was last recorded at 1,400,000... 2521/14 = 180/100,000. There was a 1 in 500 chance of being murdered in EPA... it was a war zone on par with the worst in the WORLD in 1992. Its why EPA has a ridiculously ****ty reputation to this day.
