Crenshaw has always seemed dope to me, Ever since Moesha...question for an LA head though.
How do kids/teens get around? Do they bike, do they all get rides from older kids/adults? Do they bus it? Or is LA just so big you kind of just stay in your blocks?
Someone else said it, but shoutout to Flossmoor, IL. Near suburb to the south side of Chicago. The majority is black, at ~50% with a median income at ~$122k. Beautiful neighborhoods, too.

Despite their often negative connotation, I find many black neighborhoods to be rich with history and culture, and some have gentrified.
My criteria for a good African-american neighborhood:
-Average or less crime
-Good public service facilities
-A good middle-class population
-Lots of fine culture/entertainment (music scene, literature, cultural attractions, etc.)
-Good transportation access
-Lively shopping/dining
-Good recreational facilities
-At least 50% of the neighborhood is black
-A population of at least 5,000
Roxbury MA Street Art. Some of the best Black themed street art of any neighborhood I’ve seen. A revitalized effort from the imayors mural crew. I omitted older and faded murals.
It’s important to not what Roxbury Dorchester and Mattapan arent small neighborhoods. They’re more like borough and would be considered cities in most areas of the country. I included roxburys subsections. I left out order areas/disputed areas and focused on the Heart of Roxbury.
From the National Museum of Afro American artist, to Louis Farrakhan’s home mosque, Malcolm X’s teenage bone, Dr. Kings one time church home, Malcolm X Park, a black owned marijuana dispensary, black market nubian..there a ton of black history in Roxbury. If you want to visit ‘Discovery Roxbury’ Tours no longer exist but this man-founder of Live Local Tours-has been thinking of ways to get tourists to Roxbury https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/03/...rists-roxbury/

Dope.
I have always loved the black themed murals around Roxbury. It is just an underrated area in general. There doesnt just need to more tourism to Roxbury from visitors, but also people within the metro itself. There are so many people in Cambridge, even black folks that I speak to that dont even cross over to visit the heart of the black community in their metro area. Its really disappointing.

New murals in what I think is Lower Roxbury/Fenway.
Also, “On May 11, the City of Boston and Massachusetts College of Art and Design announced that they will be utilizing a $1.2 million grant from the Surdna Foundation to support artists of color through a three-year grant program called Radical Imagination for Racial Justice (RIRJ).“
“MassArt and the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture will distribute the funds in tandem to artists who are looking to advance racial justice through creative community-oriented projects. Artists identifying as ALAANA+ (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab, Native American and others) who live in Boston and are at least 14 years old can apply.“ https://www.baystatebanner.com/2020/...ists-of-color/
