MIT also.

BU to a lesser extent than the other two.

Harvard senior charged with forging his way into university

How very ironic.

You can cleary see SF and Oakland skylines from the edge of Palo Alto/EPA/Menlo Park before you get on the bridge. I make the drive from the East Bay to Menlo Park/Palo Alto every day so I know what I am looking at.

Lol, that forging Harvard link really had nothing to do with the fact that Harvard is still one of the best colleges in the nation. It was just some idiot kid.

The interesting thing is that the forger's real SAT score and entrance to Bowdoin is beyond the reach of most people.

Boston is much more than Harvard and MIT since it and its metro are host to a much greater assortment of great schools. However, even if Boston offered only Harvard and MIT exclusively (or if it offered all but Harvard and MIT), it'd still rank in the top five.

Lexington's metro is a regional educational capital, you've got:
University of Kentucky - in transition to become a Top 20 research institution, already has top 20 programs in many areas.
Transylvania University - the oldest University west of the Alleghenies and a pretty good school to boot.
Centre College - One of America's best small private schools
An extensive library system
Bluegrass Community and Technical College - 3 campuses, has a VERY strong outreach to the community in its sponsorships and houses, ran by KCTCS in Versailles. Also has a satellite campus in the suburb of Georgetown focusing on industrial technology. Students work on their coursework right next door to one of Toyota's largest North American plants.
Eastern Kentucky University - less of a quality school but still has a great aviation program
Georgetown College - a private, 4 year Baptist college with some rigorous coursework

I am shocked at how low LA and Phily rank compared to these other schools. Phily is most definnitely in the top 5.
