As a military brat, I spent a lot of time in York County, VA due to parents being stationed there. Now I live in Hardin County, KY. Both feel very similar. Both have close access to, in my mind, very underrated big cities. You have Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA close to York County and Louisville close to Hardin County. Hardin County is more affordable. Virginia's schools outperform Kentucky's schools.
