I was under the impression during the Olympics they were pushing for a “Midtown” Olympic village between South Boston and the South End over the Rail yard

Tbh as far as made up neighborhood names go, I'd take midtown every time over "SoWa."
If we’re really trying to force an NYC/Boston topography comparison: Back Bay would be “midtown” (midriver) and Fenway would be “uptown” (upriver).
Anyway. None of this has to do with SF, but no SF posters or supporters have contributed yet. So whatever.
