Totally agree... This has been going on in these neighborhoods for half a century. My guess is approximately 7500 people were murdered in Cleveland during those 50 yrs, the majority on the East side.

I wonder what has caused the spike in violence this year. I saw one poster mention that it may be due to the increase in heroin in the area. I guess that may make sense...

The article above along with other news reports I've seen, indicated "ongoing battles between local street gangs".
And I'm sure its all about drugs and money.

So in theory, if you take down the gangs, then that should stop the majority of the drug/gun trade. Which would then lower the overall crime in the city. I wonder how the city of Cleveland has been dealing with the gangs....
