What is Cleveland like as a sports city? I all the time hear its a great sports city and I am wondering just how important is sports to the city?

One thing that seems good is Cleveland is among one of the cities that don't have any championships for any of its teams except for in like the late 40's early 50's yet they seem to still have a lot of fans and the fans seem very loyal to their teams. That to me shows a true sports city.

Anyone have any comments?

Wow the Browns are really big here in Cleveland. They are getting better every year. But the Browns fans here are diehard. That truly is great. Cleveland is in my opinion the best sports city.

Also Clevelander's love all their sports teams, but are less loyal to the Cavs and Indians when they are losing as opposed to when the Browns are loosing. Right now and for abvious reasons the Cavs are the team dejour and probobly will be for a while. However there is nothing like going to a browns game even if they are losing!

Thumbs up Yeah, they're loyal fans!

Well, yes, the Browns have been pretty much awful since they came back, but their loyal fans stand by them! I, myself, have always been an avid Steelers fan...my dad converted me when I was very young (he was born in Pittsburgh, and, in case you don't know, the Steelers and Browns are arch-rivals). Every year the Browns fans assure me that they will make it to the playoffs, eventhough it never happens!

As for baseball, our beloved Tribe (the Cleveland Indians) were pretty good last year, but not this year, as we were all hoping. They're a fresh, new team, so we're all hoping they get it together soon!

Well, I'm not much of a basketball fan, but even I know that the Cavs (Cleveland Cavaliers) made it pretty far this year, and we were all hoping they would win it all. Not this year, but hopefully next year.

I hope this helped you out a little bit!

Not only is Cleveland a zealous sports city (actually the whole area is), but when a Clevelander moves out of the area, they remain faithful. There are strong, active Browns Backer clubs all over the country!

Next year may be this year! The Cavaliers defeated the Detroit Pistons tonight to advance to the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.

Once a Cleveland fan, always a Cleveland fan. That's just the way it is.

I lived in Cincinnati for 21 years after leaving Cleveland, and about after 15 years could bring myself to hope the Reds wouldn't lose (never mind what I think of the Bungles, LOL). And the Reds are not even in the American League.

Well, we often/perhaps remain faithful to the BROWNS...
but Bowen/Duncan/Ginobili/Parker/Barry/Bonner/Horry/Finley/
Vaughn/Pop/allOthers

are AWESOME - how could I NOT root for them???

I think what the broadcasters are referring to is NOT the fanbase, but the seemingly inability to have true enduring champion teams....
Don't get me wrong here, I was born in Massillon (though the majority of my life spent in So Calif and Texas), but I am not just BLINDLY a fan of the Spurs...... and I think Cleveland forms a strong fan base for its various professional teams.....
but GO SPURS anyway....
