People like to use their yards for various things like gardening and other outdoor recreation. I have 1/3 acre and wish I had at least 1/2. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. As a side note, most communities require that you have a lawn. So yes, we do "plant it in grass and cut it every week" no matter what size it is.

I'm looking in Lake County and it seems like everyone has an acre or more. What do they do with that much? Grow gardens? have horses? plant it in grass and cut it every week?

I live in Lake County. Last house was also in Lake County. Last house was about .25 acres. This one is about .7
The difference is that if I farted in the last house the neighbors heard it...here, we eat beans all day and no one cares. Its a little more work but I have a nice garden, play soccer with my son, have a very large double hammock, deck, shed, and still have room to put a pool in plus one of those jungle gyms. the only reason I would settle for less yard is so that my son has closer play friends....you know...breederville.

You might want to see a doctor! There is less than 10 feet between my house and the neighbors' houses, and I've never heard them pass gas.
