I've been hearing a lot about New Bern over the last 5 years and have even been told that it is a lot like Charleston 30 years ago. Thoughts.......

New Bern has a population of about 28,000, which is a little less than the population of Charleston in 1830 (30,000). Today Charleston is probably 4 or 5 times larger than New Bern, depending on how you measure it.

i'm not saying that there is anything wrong about New Bern, just don't expect it to suddenly turn into Charleston.

This is the second time this topic has been brought up...the first time was here (by the same poster):

Why twice? Is someone trying to promote New Bern??

This is the OP's second post. Since no one responded to the original post, he more than likely decided to reword somewhat.

Maybe the OP can chime in and tell us if they wanted more responses and that's why the second post on the same topic.

He/she has only posted to C-D twice with the same question each time...so not sure whether it's marketing or a sincere quest for info...

OP???

Default retirement in new bern

A realestate person told me this is good for retirement. Can anyone tell me about the COL in NB?
I am in MO, and have a good COL, and do not want to go backwards.
Also, my daughter is in Asheville. Are there any retirement towns around there?
