This is a city you will see driving down to the Outer Banks on 64.
I always drive by it as I am ready to get to the Beach but I just saw
it on North Carolina Now on the Public Broadcasting System . Looks like a cool town.

The last anything on 64 before Manns Harbor. The bridge over the Scuppernong River looks awesome.

I worked on a roadway project through Columbia about 10 years ago and had to stay there for a week. Found it to be absolutely dreadful. I've been to OBX a few times since and I'll admit that it looks pretty nice.........at 45 MPH.

Does Scuppernong River have alligators and can you kayak down it?

Gators not so much compared to Alligator River. Water Moccasins, yes. They don't taste nearly as good as gator. It's not much of a river beyond the part you see going over the bridge; it turns into an irrigation ditch for some farms going toward Lake Phelps. I wouldn't get in a kayak there.
