A television show based on Stephen King's "Under the Dome" novel will film in Wilmington, and the 13-episode season will begin airing on CBS this summer.

It is rumored they plan to open production offices at EUE/Screen Gems Studios next week.

"Under the Dome" is set in a small New England town suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town's inhabitants must deal with dire living conditions while searching for answers about the barrier, according to the network.

This is great for economy having two TV shows and good income for those that choose to be extras.

I didnt think that anyone who aspired to be extra would know it whatever income they desire to fit in their life.
Some might use to get their foot in door in film industry.

I remember being an extra for Matlock and I would drive the 2 hours and vacation and party in Wilmington during my college years with the income made from as an extra.

Depends on the individual if its extra income or just income like any part time work is.

I hope the series does well and time right with CBS to mayb air around there series 'Big Brother so the 'Under the Dome' gets good ratings.

I bet there are going to be great opportunities for fun extra work for this one. Townspeople going basically crazy.

The novel was terrific! I may make the drive back myself.

Happy to see another King movie is in the works! The fact that North Carolina is so movie friendly is great. I know King has tried to keep his movies made here in Maine, but we are NOT a movie friendly state. Its really too bad, because King has helped our area a great deal....

I just saw on News 14 that 'Revolution' is currently looking for new 'extras'. This is so tempting but Im not as free as I was 15 years ago when I did 'Matlock'.

Maybe I should move to Wilmington, be an extra on Revolution then Under The Dome would be fun.
Carolina Beach will be my future retirement spot.

Yeah so often the filming is during the week - I lived maybe a mile from the studio but could never do it because of work! Someday. Would LOVE to be in Under the Dome. I think I heard today that it's going to air in June.

Did anyone watch it? What town are they using for the set of 'Chester's Mill' is it Burgaw?

This look like it would be a fun movie to be a extra in unless you end up with guts splattered

I wouldn't mind having my guts splattered, well as long as I'm on National TV. And by the way, how was this show?

True, but then it would be your finale. It was real good and intense. Very good storyline with all characters wish it was two hours as it more like a mini movie. My partner says there is a lot of variations from the book.
