The WECT (TV channel 6) web site has some viewer submitted pictures of erosion at Kure Beach. They shows some sand cliffs over 6 feet high approaching the base of houses.
Are these picture accurate and current? I sampled one:
Wow! I don't think those are current - I was just there two weeks ago and I didn't see anything like that. There was a dropoff in the sand but not a large one/not a steep one.
You can check it out at the surfchex cam - it's located on the pier, but they pan over to the beach too.
