Hi everybody,

my husband got offered a job in Wilmington. We are now researching the area and trying to find out as much information as possible. We would like to rent to start with, preferably a house with a yard. We have pets, 2 cats and 1 dog, so it would have to be a neighborhood/area where it's safe to walk a dog. We currently don't have any kids, but are planning on having one in the near future. Since we have absolutely no idea about the area, surrounding cities, suburbs etc. I'd be thankful for every information we can get. His office would be downtown, another factor to consider, how bad is traffic in Wilmington?

We are probably going out there to visit next week. What do we have to see, what can we skip?

Thanks so much!

Since Wilmington is on a peninsula, the traffic is congested, but he probably can get to work in 30 minutes from most of Wilmington. When you visit, just scope out the neighborhoods where you would live. There are plenty of safe residential neighborhoods. Depending on your budget, I'd suggest living in the Myrtle Grove area, Pine Valley, Mayfaire, Ogden and the areas north of Market Street, Carolina Beach, or Porter's Neck.

I would also look at the downtown waterfront areas, maybe have lunch somewhere with a waterfront view. Save the tourist stuff like the battleship for later if you actually do relocate.

Its a horrible place to live we relocated from Orlando FL 18 months ago found it to have terrible traffic high crime rates overpriced everything. Its an arrogant little beach town with nothing to offer unless your a retiree with a ton of money or a college kid its.
Crime rate per capita is off tge charts the police try thier best but the gang wars are off the charts
Dont move here!
