I understood that the preliminary flood maps for New Hanover County were due 6/30/2014. I have checked the Fema floodsmart site and the NC FMIS site and have not been able to locate the prelim maps or any date showing an adjustment/slippage to the 6/30/14 date. Anyone have any information in this area?

New Hanover County GIS Portal

Did you try the GIS Maps?

Thanks for the site, always looking for good sources of data. Unfortunately, it looks like the data the GIS site uses is(are?) the same as the FMIS site and not yet the 6/30/14 revisions.
Thanks again

From what I've seen with other locales, the revised info should show on the GIS once it's been uploaded.

Just an update: it appears the date for preliminary floodmaps for New Hanover County has a new target date (subject to change) of August 15, 2014. This is based upon a response from a FEMA map specialist.
The map specialist suggested if I wanted any more information I should contact the "local floodplain specialist". I poked around the New Hanover County website without any luck. Anyone know the email for such a person?

Jim

That would probably be the "Emergency Management" department.

Usually someone from either the planning office or building inspections. I would call building inspections.
