Considering a move to the NC coast. School system or private school must focus on gifted and talented. Any recommendations? Thank you in advance!!

Each of the counties is required to have an AIG program, but I can't say any of them focus on the gifted and talented. We have schools systems managed at the county level rather than at the township level which may be the case where you come from. At any rate, the counties have other and larger problems to deal with, such as complying with Common Core. They are also struggling with losing good teachers because of poor pay.

At any rate, here are a couple of examples from AIG websites. New Hanover County has some upscale neighborhoods like Landfall, and Onslow is a more typical county.

I suggest you look for private schools in Wilmington. For example, Cape Fear Academy is a college-preparatory school.

You might also look into Dare County Public Schools on the Outer Banks. The have a larger amount of money to spend per capita, and they have well-rated schools.
