Seems like I may have started shopping too late. Anyone have a suggestion for a large, relatively new oceanfront rental on OBX in September (ideally first or second full week). A pool and hot tub would be ideal amenities. Our group has 8 adults, 4 teens, 3 kids age 10 and under, and a 1 year old. I've already scanned most of the websites and didn't see many homes of this size. Thanks in advance for your help!

I assume you have already used VRBO.com. Have your tried the Sanderling Resort which has one 6 bedroom house? Otherwise you might have to split up the group into two houses. You might get lucky and find two sides of a duplex.

If you want to look at alternatives, Emerald Isle Beach seems to have vacancies in very large places (see VRBO #167175).

There are tons of rental companies on the web. We rented a 7 bedroom/8 bath with pool from Elan Vacation Rentals a few years ago and they were great. Tons of homes....

Golden Age: most people in OBX use professional rental companies to rent their homes.....I know of Elan, Southern Shores, Twiddy, -- there are many.....I've used Elan and Southern Shores; they, for a cost, will obtain linen rentals for you, too, as well as bike rentals, etc.

My friend has a home there and she uses Joe Lamb as her agency.

Not to be a downer, but make sure you buy trip insurance. September is high hurricane season.

Thanks for your help and suggestions folks - I've checked out Twiddy - looks like they're pretty well-booked. Will check out these others too.
