Regarding Falcones ... we went to their private "soft opening " party on Monday nite along with about 30 others. They have a new chef "Daniella", a young guy from Palermo, professionally trained "somewhere" in Italy and he was testing out all the equipment, ovens, etc and some of the new wait staff.... I must say that the food was spectacular and the two new wait staff were, as expected, trying to get their "stuff" together... which they will quickly I'm sure.... but everyone was quite impressed with the food.... the place a about four times as big as the Leland restaurant and a new full bar and there are bound to be some opening pains.

But, here's the deal as I see it ... there is a simple principal at work here ....

You've all been going to your favorite restaurant for years and years and all your friends go there too for years and you always have a good meal / experience and you can't even get in the place on Saturday nite because they're so crowded and you send someone new there for the first time and they come back and go on and on about how terrible their meal was and how absolutely horrifying the entire experience was and you think to yourself... what the heck are they talking about ?

The exact same thing also just happened with Wok and Roll.... it's her THIRD very successful restaurant and some say the food is great ( we personally think so ) and some say they didn't like it and had simply TERRIBLE / INEDIBLE food. Same principal at work here .... there will ALWAYS be people that do not like the food at a very popular restaurant .... and there will always be people that scarf down those disgusting flat pieces of dough from Dominos and Papa Johns, evidenced by the wild flurry of delivery cars screaming through the streets of St James all day and evening.

The principle ???? Everyone likes something different ! That's why Baskin Robbins makes so many different flavors of ice cream ... everyone has different tastes.

PS: The fact that Falcones is just open a day or so and may be having some temporary opening / growing pains notwithstanding.
